A Huge Benefit of Classical Christian Education

My daughter's first/introductory homework assignment in her Human Physiology class this year illustrates one key reason why we love classical Christian education. Her assignment was to read Esther and write a well-written paper comparing the role of God in Esther to the role of God in science.

Any form of education that does not lead students to see God's glorious hand in every field of study thereby drawing students into awe of Him is incomplete. Any education absent of biblical truth fails to help students comprehend their infinite value (which nothing or no person can take away) or that their lives have meaning and purpose established by their perfect, loving God before they were ever created.  Secular education may provide knowledge and some useful skills, but it fails to impart wisdom, and it doesn't help students truly understand the world or themselves in a meaningful, interconnected way.

Thankfully, intentional parents and other mentors can compensate for these shortcomings outside of the classroom, so that their students may serve as bright lights to their teachers and classmates, but I'm thankful to have the extra support at school.

Note to those who cannot afford to send their children to private Christian school or to homeschool them and to those who chose public school for the selfless call to evangelize:

I applaud you for your courage and conviction. Sometimes, I wrestle with feeling that our family is keeping our light in a bubble instead of shining brightly on a lamp stand where it can illumine the darkness, but I also believe God equips, calls, and places people where they are at that time for His good purposes. Our prayers are powerful, too! I trust Him to protect students, teachers, faculty who are on mission in the public education system. He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion!
